2012 'Siren' Rhone-style Red Blend, Mendocino

2012 'Siren' Rhone-style Red Blend, Mendocino

Like the classic red wine blends originating in the Rhône River valley, France, this California version combines Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvèdre. Each component contributes its special character to the overall flavor and aroma profile, creating a sum that is greater than its parts. This proprietary red wine blend has superb balance and structure, making it an enduring favorite.

Siren complements bistro-style skirt steak with arugula salad, grilled lamb with rosemary, and Portobello burgers.

Aromas: black cherry, berries, Provençal herbs

Flavors: blackberry, plums, pepper finish

Vineyard Notes: The small lot of premium Syrah was hand-harvested on October 9, 2012 from Mendocino’s organically farmed Eaglepoint Ranch vineyard. Rocky hillsides at 1800’ elevation provide an ideal environment for Rhone varietals. The 2012 growing season was long and very cool

Winemaking Notes: Syrah, Grenache, and Mourvèdre were each separately fermented and aged in neutral oak barrels for 19 months. Blending trials before bottling produced the final result, with Syrah claiming three quarters of the mix. Bottled unfiltered and unfined on July 25, 2014. Bottle aged for over a year.
$36.00 per bottle
