2010 Syrah, Kick Ranch, Sonoma County
Full-bodied and elegant, the wine is 100% Syrah from one of Sonoma County’s most sought after vineyards. Released after more than a year of bottle aging, the 2010 Carica Syrah is highly drinkable now through at least 2019.
Pair this complex, balanced Syrah with grilled lamb or stuffed portobello mushrooms.
Aromas: black raspberry, roasted coffee
Flavors: cherry, plum, mint, and cracked pepper
Winemaking Notes: Carica’s small lot of premium Syrah was hand-harvested on October 19, 2010. Three Syrah clones make up this vintage: Hermitage, 470, and 877. Clusters were de-stemmed, cold-soaked for 3 days, then fermented (75% whole berry) to dryness in small, open-top vessels with 3 punchdowns per day. The wine was aged 16 months with minimal intervention in neutral French and American oak barrels. Carica 2010 Syrah was bottled unfiltered and unfined on March 13, 2012.
The Vineyard: Located in Santa Rosa’s Rincon Valley on the Sonoma side of Spring Mountain, Kick Ranch vineyard uses sustainable viticulture practices to produce highly sought-after Rhône varietals.
